GUIDO RENI BARRACKS, Rome
Permitted uses: Hospitality, Residential, Retail, Social housing, Parking
PROPERTY
The former military sites on Via Guido Reni, situated in Rome’s Flaminio district, are the focus of one of the capital’s most significant urban regeneration projects. The masterplan provides for the establishment of the new Science Museum of Rome-a major cultural infrastructure-alongside the development of a private sector dedicated to residential use, including an allocation for social housing, as well as hospitality and commercial spaces. The intervention aims to create a new network of public and accessible spaces, incorporating extensive green areas, squares, equipped pedestrian pathways, public parking, a civic center, and a neighborhood library. The objective is to restore to the city a livable, functional area that is seamlessly integrated into the urban fabric. The project will be implemented through a dedicated real estate fund managed by Coima SGR, with co-investment from CDP. The entire site spans over 5 hectares within the Flaminio district, and the masterplan was designed by Studio Paola Viganò, selected through an international architectural competition.
