Palazzo Archita, a property owned by the Municipality of Taranto, is located in the Borgo district, the historic commercial and civic center of the city. It is one of the most recognizable and representative buildings within the urban context. The building extends over a total surface area of approximately 22,000 sqm, distributed across four above-ground levels. Constructed between the late 18th and late 19th centuries, it holds significant architectural value and a strong urban presence. The project envisions the restoration and adaptive reuse of the property through the introduction of a mix of functions capable of activating a broader revitalization process within the surrounding urban fabric. The future uses have not yet been definitively determined, allowing for a flexible configuration aligned with evolving development strategies. The city center of Taranto is currently experiencing an increase in visitor flows, particularly linked to cruise traffic and the progressive enhancement of its rich architectural and historical-artistic heritage. The city is strongly defined by its close relationship with the sea, which surrounds it on multiple sides. Ongoing redevelopment initiatives concern the waterfront areas and urban beaches. The former Torpediniere Pier, located in proximity to the property, will host the Nautical Center of the 20th Mediterranean Games (August–September 2026) and will subsequently be redeveloped as a public urban space and marina facility. In addition, the construction of a new public parking facility with over 600 spaces, approximately 500 meters from the building, has been planned and funded. Public funding of €25 million has been allocated for the intervention.
